Help us to “READ OUR HEARTS OUT!”
Greenbriar West School is sponsoring a school wide reading incentive program during the month of February. Students and staff are invited to celebrate the love of reading together as a school. During the month of February, they are encouraged to work together to read as many books as possible!
Read Your Heart Out Rules:
- Books may be read at home or at school. Students may read their book independently or have a book read to them. (Take-Home Reading Books and Digital Books do count as well!)
- Each student is asked to cut and fill out a special paper heart to document each book that he or she has read. These hearts should be given to their teacher, and the teacher will then give the student additional paper hearts when needed.
- The classroom teacher will turn in the collected hearts to the Reading Specialist to be added to a “Heart Caterpillar” which will “grow” starting in the school library!
- Will the caterpillar wind its way around the school? The students have been challenged to see if they can read a total of 3500 books during the month of February! The total number of books read will be added weekly to the school wide “book-o-meter” in the library. Please encourage your child to get excited to read, read, read at home during this month!
Happy Reading! Let’s work together to help Greenbriar West read 3,500 books!
