Message from the PTA President

The first quarter was an exciting one for celebrating 40 wonderful years at GBW!  The PTA was proud to outfit every student and staff member in a 40th Anniversary T-shirt.  And what a wonderful event to have almost 1000 students spell out GBW for a school-wide commemorative picture!

The PTA was proud to sponsor the “Juggling for Success” program for the entire school last month. Many families enjoyed the evening program as well. The PTA pays for 4 school-wide assemblies each year, and this was the first one.

The 1st quarter is also time for the PTA’s Fall Fundraiser. I want to thank all the families and students who contributed by direct donations and by selling the Community Coupon Books.  Our Fall Fundraiser program was very successful and we met our goals! The financial details of the fundraiser will be presented at our monthly meeting on November 15.   It is through this Fall Fundraiser, and the Carnival in the Spring that are the main areas of income to support all the PTA programs and services.

Many students and parents enjoyed the Family Fun Night movie night in October.  Thanks to Karin Wallace and Kristin McCurry for organizing that event. Our goal is to have several family friendly events throughout the year, and this one was a great event!

Thanks to KC Axelrod for organizing our Fall Blood Drive. The American Red Cross was happy with our support!

November has many events planned! Please see the articles on Veteran’s Day, the Variety show and the Book Fair. During Book Fair week GBW will be hosting a Thanksgiving lunch. Please come and join us!

Finally, please join us for our PTA meeting on November 15 at 9:30 am in the GBW PTA Room. We enjoy being able to keep you informed with up-to-date information via email.  Please visit the www.gbwpta.org website to update your personal information. This is the best way to keep informed about what is going on at Greenbriar West!
