Message from the Principal

Dear Parents and Guardians,

The month of November is a time to reflect and give thanks. I am particularly thankful for our Greenbriar West family. It is truly an honor to work and serve the students, staff and parents in this community. We also need to recognize our students who come to school each day prepared and ready to learn; we thank the GBW staff for working tirelessly to meet the needs of our students; and finally, we thank our parents for supporting our school community in every possible way. Working together, we are educating our children to become positive contributors in society and leaders of the future.

November promises to be another busy month at Greenbriar West! As you know, the first grading period ends tomorrow, November 4. I hope you will take time during the next few weeks to talk with your child about his or her progress. Your support, encouragement and involvement in your child’s education is of utmost importance as we work together to ensure your child’s success.

We will celebrate Veteran’s Day on Friday, November 11, by inviting veterans to greet our students as they arrive to school and by being special guests on WGBW, our morning news show. Our second graders will also be sharing their singing talents with parents during their “November Songs” Performance that morning.

The following week, November 14-18, will be our Fall Book Fair! Please stop by for Family Book Fair Night on Tuesday, November 15 from 6:00-8:00 p.m.

And finally, Thursday, November 17 will be our special Thanksgiving Day luncheon – always a favorite lunch day for parents and other special visitors! Look for me and Ms. Campbell on the serving line!

Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family!
Mrs. Cleveland

“To laugh often and much;
to win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children;
to earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends;
to appreciate beauty; to find the best in others;
to leave the world a bit better, whether by a healthy child,
a garden patch or a redeemed social condition;
to know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived.
This is to have succeeded.”

—Ralph Waldo Emerson
