¡Hablemos español!

The children at GBW continue learning and having fun with the weekly Spanish vocabulary contest. Upper and lower graders are competing for the weekly prize of the “Sombrero de la Sabiduría.”

In the classrooms, the first graders have learned their numbers in Spanish from one to ten and can say the days of the week and identify the four different seasons. We are learning to name items used in school and parts of the body. Second graders have delighted members of the school faculty by writing them short letters about themselves. They can name the different subjects they study at school and identify school supplies needed in each one. Third and Fifth graders have used atlases and dictionaries to study the points of the compass rose, continents, oceans, countries and their capitals. We learned to name geographical characteristics and landforms found in different countries. Along with the third and fifth graders, Fourth Graders are learning geography in Spanish as well as how to hold a simple conversation introducing themselves and talking about likes and dislikes.

It is a pleasure watching them all learn so much Spanish and connect what is taught in FLES with concepts learned in their grade level lessons.

¡Felices Fiestas!
