SCA Holiday Food Drive 2011

Monday, Nov 14 – Friday, Dec 16

Greenbriar West’s SCA is sponsoring a Holiday Food Drive as a school-wide service learning project. We will collect food for neighbors in our community who need assistance or may be homeless. During the course of the drive, students will learn about the causes for hunger in our area. All items will be donated to Western Fairfax Christian Ministries / Community Food Bank.

 

Who Will do This?

Every GBW student and staff member

Our Goal:

To collect 2600 items ~ just 3 items per person. Of course, you may bring more!

What do Students Bring and When?

Week 1/2 (Nov 14-23 ): Proteins: Meats

(Tuna, chili, soup, canned spaghetti, dried or canned beans)

Week 3 (Nov 28-Dec 2) : Carbs: Fruits and Vegetables

(Dried & canned fruit, 100% fruit juice, canned vegetables)

Week 4 (Dec5-9): Carbs: Starches & Baking Supplies:

(Boxed potatoes, rice, noodles, beans, flour, pancake mix)

Week 5 (Dec 12-16 ): Healthy Snacks and Drinks:

(Granola bars, dried fruit, bottled water, no-sugar drinks)

Where do Students Bring Donations?

Items go in each grade’s box in the lobby by 10:30 a.m.
