Volunteer
Greenbriar West’s annual carnival is fast approaching. The
carnival will be held Saturday, March 13th from 12:00 – 4:00 pm. The carnival
is always a wonderful event for the children, but we need a lot of volunteers
for it to be a success.
We will be handling volunteers differently this year. Classes are not
going to be assigned a game. Please sign-up for what time you would like to
work and you will be assign you to a carnival activity. Please note your first and
second choices and we will do our best to assign you to that time slot. We will
contact you with your assigned activity and time. At least FIVE parent
volunteers from each Homeroom Class are needed. Indicate your child’s
teacher’s name on the volunteer form below.
Please complete the bottom portion of the volunteer form and return it to school
no later than Friday, March 5th. If you cannot volunteer for a time slot,
please donate a cake for the Cake Walk or a baked good for the Bake Sale.
If you have any questions, please contact Karen McGrath by email or 703-631-0318.

Food Drive Moved from December to February
In response to a request from our local community food bank (WFCM), the GBW SCA will hold its annual Food Drive in February 2010. The supply of non-perishable foods collected during the holidays begins to dwindle by spring, and the need to replenish the stock is high. Our SCA hopes to help keep the shelves full by making this food drive our most successful ever! Look for more information after the holidays!
2010 SCRIPPS NATIONAL SPELLING BEE
GBW’s third annual Spelling Bee will take place in February 2010. The Spelling Bee helps students improve their spelling, increase their vocabularies, learn concepts, and develop correct English usage that will help them throughout their lives. The Bee is open to students in Grades 3-6. In addition to interested spellers, we will need volunteer parent coaches, pronouncers, and judges. If your child is interested in participating, or you are interested in volunteering, send your name and email address, and your child’s name, grade, and teacher to Akanksha Bhute, GBW PTA Spelling Bee Chairperson, at akanksha.bhute@gmail.com. You will be added to the distribution list for any upcoming information about the Bee.
Call for Volunteers!
We have immediate opportunities for:
- Carnival
- Photographer
- Publicity
- Silent Auction
- Volunteers
- Chantilly Community Coalition
The best thing about these opportunities is that they require various time commitments. If you’d like to volunteer behind the scenes, throughout the year, or just during a limited time of the year, there’s a place for you. Even better, grab a friend and co-chair an activity! Contact any board member for information. Thank you.
Please contact Wendy Havens if you are interested or have any questions.

Update or Enter Your Information
Please take a moment to visit our contact/interest page and enter your information. All contact information will need to be re-entered since the new system allows for sign in to update your information throughout the year. Volunteer interest will be coming soon in the new system.
Emails are normally sent during the school year several times a month. If you have not been receiving them, then we do not have a valid email address for you.
Make sure you are in the know!
